Many simple churches use a three thirds structure as a simple model for gathering. Here is a basic structure:
Looking Back
Share a meal together. Take communion at the end of the meal or at the end of your time together.
Check in on the previous week (some of this is often done informally over dinner). Share prayer requests and discuss how everyone did on their goals. We often move prayer requests and prayer time to the end.
Some expression of worship. For example, have each person share something they are thankful for. Lead or play a worship song that everyone can sing along to.
Looking Up
Cast vision.
Lead a discussion on the passage:
What do we like about it?
What do we find difficult or challenging?
What does this teach us about God?
What does this teach us about people?
Looking Forward
Pray and respond. Spend some time in listening prayer asking the Lord to direct our response. Be listening for words from the Lord for others.
Set goals
Grow/Go:
I will...
Know, Obey, Share
How does God want me to obey? Who can I share with?
Pray for one another.
